About The Role
The Enterprise Architect defines and evolves our enterprise technology strategy to support a cloud‑first, acquisition‑driven energy production business. This role shapes scalable, secure, and cost‑effective platforms that enable growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and repeatable integration of acquired entities. It is a hands‑on strategic role that blends enterprise‑level vision with practical architecture and delivery support, reporting to the Director of IT / Infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business strategy
- Lead cloud‑first architecture strategy (Azure/AWS/Google), ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost optimization
- Establish reference architectures, design standards, and integration patterns
- Govern technology selection and rationalization to reduce redundancy and technical debt
- Define enterprise application strategy (ERP, land systems, accounting, SCADA/OT integration, regulatory systems)
- Lead master data and data governance strategy
- Promote API‑first and integration‑platform strategies
- Establish and lead Architecture Review Board (ARB)
- Partner with Security to embed security controls in all architectural designs
- Ensure architecture aligns with regulatory and compliance requirements (SOX, SOC 2, NERC CIP where applicable)
- Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership and translate business strategy into technology capability models
- Lead IT due diligence for acquisitions and develop integration roadmaps to rapidly onboard acquired companies
- Drive system consolidation, identity integration, data integration, and cost synergies
- Establish repeatable acquisition playbooks
- Provide guidance on emerging technologies relevant to oil & gas (automation, AI, digital field, predictive maintenance)
Required Experience & Skills
- Enterprise architecture experience including operating models, standards, and governance (reference architectures, decision records, architecture reviews)
- Cloud platform architecture expertise in Azure or AWS, including landing zones, networking, identity, and resiliency patterns
- Security‑by‑design knowledge (IAM, segmentation, encryption, logging/monitoring)
- Application and SaaS evaluation skills (ERP/finance, HRIS, CRM) including fit‑gap analysis and vendor due diligence
- Integration architecture experience (API‑first, eventing, ETL/ELT, iPaaS/middleware)
- Data architecture and governance fundamentals including master data concepts, data quality, lineage, and analytics enablement
- Working knowledge of OT/IT integration considerations (SCADA/historians, network segmentation) in asset‑intensive environments
- Experience supporting M&A integrations: due diligence, Day 1/Day 2 planning, and repeatable onboarding playbooks
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience across infrastructure, applications, and/or data domains
- 5+ years in enterprise, solution, or platform architecture roles
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Nice‑to‑haves
- Certifications: TOGAF, Azure/AWS Architect, CISSP or similar
- Experience in upstream, midstream, or energy trading environments
- Familiarity with production accounting, land systems, or regulatory reporting platforms
- Experience building an architecture function from the ground up
- Oil & gas or asset‑intensive industry background
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required. Equivalent practical experience considered. Relevant certifications (TOGAF, Azure/AWS Architect, CISSP) preferred.
Pay & Benefits
- $156,000 – $187,000 / yr
- Performance‑based Short‑Term Incentive Plan (STIP): 25%–30% of base salary
