The attorney will step into an established employer-side employment practice, inheriting work from a senior attorney approaching retirement.The position includes a mix of:Day-to-day employment counseling and policy work for employersEmployment litigation and administrative matters when disputes ariseThe attorney will work directly with business clients, providing practical legal guidance and representation.Key ResponsibilitiesEmployment CounselingAdvise employers on hiring, discipline, termination, leave issues, and accommodationsDraft and update employee handbooks, policies, and employment agreementsProvide compliance guidance under federal, state, and local employment lawsEmployment LitigationHandle or supervise litigation matters, including:Discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claimsWage-and-hour disputes and statutory claimsAdministrative charges and agency proceedings (EEOC and state agencies)Client & Firm CollaborationCollaborate with attorneys across business and litigation practicesSupport ongoing client relationships and contribute to practice growth over timeQualifications5+ years of employer-side employment-law experienceStrong background in employment counseling, policy development, and complianceExperience handling or materially contributing to employment litigationAbility to manage matters independently while working collaborativelyExcellent research, writing, and advocacy skillsAdmission (or ability to become admitted) in Washington StateWork Environment & ExpectationsBillable HoursTarget of approximately 1,600 billable hours annuallyEmphasis on sustainable workloads and balanceCultureCollaborative, in-person environmentStrong mentorship and partner accessibilityFocus on long-term careers, not churnScheduleAttorneys are generally in the office most daysSome remote flexibility (e.g., one day per week) after onboardingMore in-office presence expected initiallyCompensationBase salary range: $140,000 – $220,000, depending on experience, skills, and level of independence in both counseling and litigationBonus opportunities may be available based on performanceBenefits package includes health insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off
