Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Compile patient medical data, including health history.
  • Order diagnostic tests, such as imaging, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, and interpret results.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, including suturing, splinting, wound care, nerve blocks, and other procedures appropriate for an emergency department setting.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and help provide continuity of care.
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, and medical devices.
  • Instruct and counsel patients on compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Work with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to create and maintain patient records.
  • Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co‑workers, and other medical professionals.
  • Maintain professionalism, uphold ethical principles regarding clinical care, confidentiality, informed consent, and business practices.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program or an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Current PA license through the MN Board of Medical Practice or current RN & NP license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • Active DEA license; certified through the NCCPA, ANCC/AANP, or eligible for the ANCC/AANP national exam and meet threshold criteria for Credentialing and Privileges.
  • Certified in BLS (required) and ACLS (required); preferably ATLS (not required for this casual position).
  • Efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills that enable effective information exchange with patients, families, physicians, professional associates, and others within the system.
  • Three or more years of experience as a PA/NP in a tertiary, high‑volume emergency department where typical emergency procedures are routinely performed.

Schedule

10‑hour rotating shifts. Opening: Casual FTE.

Compensation

Casual rate of pay is $85/hr. Additional compensation earned with shift differentials and incentive bonuses.
