Electronics Assembler – McIntosh LabsThe Electronics Assembler is responsible for assembling precision electronic products and subassemblies, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), glass front panels, and related mechanical components. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to producing high-quality products that meet customer and company standards.Working from detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and bills of materials, the Electronics Assembler installs electronic and mechanical components, performs visual inspections, and documents completed work while maintaining quality and safety standards. This position offers a potential development path for employees interested in advancing into a Solder Technician role through on-the-job training and certification opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesAssembly & Component InstallationAssemble electronic products, printed circuit boards (PCBs), glass front panels, and mechanical subassemblies according to work instructions, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.Install electronic components, connectors, brackets, buttons, anodized extrusions, plastic inserts, foam tape, adhesives, and other small mechanical parts with precision.Identify, orient, and insert electronic components while verifying correct values, polarity, and placement.Apply masking materials, foam tape, RTV adhesives, and other bonding materials as required by manufacturing processes.Utilize hand tools, tweezers, powered screwdrivers, and other assembly equipment to complete assemblies accurately and efficiently.Prepare assemblies for downstream manufacturing processes, including wave soldering and final assembly.Quality & InspectionPerform visual inspections throughout the assembly process to verify component placement, alignment, cleanliness, and cosmetic appearance.Handle delicate electronic and glass components using proper procedures to prevent contamination, damage, or cosmetic defects.Identify and report missing, damaged, or incorrectly installed components, cosmetic imperfections, or other quality concerns.Maintain a clean, organized work area while following ESD, safety, and quality requirements.Documentation & Process ControlAccurately record completed operations, production quantities, and component traceability using production documentation or electronic systems.Follow standardized work instructions, process documentation, and quality procedures.Adhere to all requirements for handling adhesives, cleaning materials, ESD-sensitive components, and other controlled manufacturing processes.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required. 1-3 years of experience in electronics, mechanical, precision, or manufacturing assembly preferred. Ability to read and follow work instructions, assembly drawings, diagrams, and bills of materials. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Ability to accurately handle small components and perform repetitive precision assembly tasks.
Experience in an electronics manufacturing or ESD-controlled environment is preferred. IPC certification is a plus but not required. Company-sponsored training is available.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a clean electronics manufacturing environment. Employees work with small electronic and mechanical components, glass assemblies, adhesives, and manufacturing equipment while following all required ESD and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
