We're now taking almost 30,000 guests a year to some of the world's most remote and pristine locations on our fleet of 20 ships, and are committed to ensuring our guests experience the "Exhilaration of Discovery".Job SummaryThe Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical and electronic systems across assigned vessels. This role serves as the primary shore-side technical lead for shipboard electrical matters, supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, drydock planning, projects, compliance, and system reliability across the fleet.Essential DutiesProvide technical support to shipboard engineering teams for electrical system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability.Serve as the primary shore-side escalation point for complex electrical, automation, navigation, communication, and related system issues.Plan and oversee electrical maintenance, drydock work, repairs, and upgrade projects.Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, SOLAS, USCG, and company SMS requirements.Maintain technical records, support audits and investigations, and provide periodic reporting on vessel condition and key risks.Support purchasing, budgeting, vendor coordination, and project execution for assigned vessels.Conduct vessel visits to assess system condition, support troubleshooting, and identify improvement opportunities.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent maritime technical qualification preferred.Chief Electrical Officer certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.Experience supporting electrical systems in passenger vessel or comparable maritime environments.Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, safety practices, planned maintenance systems, and technical documentation.Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.Additional RequirementsAbility to travel internationally up to 25%.Ability to work onboard vessels, climb ladders, and occasionally work outside normal business hours.Strong preference to candidates based in the Seattle area; this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days/week in our Seattle-based office.Strong written and verbal English communication skills; basic Spanish proficiency would be an asset.Physical DemandsRegular standing, walking, climbing, and movement onboard vessels and in office environments.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally more.$105,000 - $120,000 a year Bonus of up to 7.5% annuallyOur BenefitsTravel benefits for employees and their familyVoyage of Discovery trips for employees to travel as guestsHealth insurance including Medical, Dental, Vision401(k) plan with employer matchLong-Term Disability, Life & AD&D InsuranceFlexible Spending Account (FSA) to be used for out-of-pocket medical and dependent carePre-Tax Commuter Benefit7-8 Paid Holidays2-3 Floating Holiday Options (pro-rated per start date)Up to 15 days of vacation (pro-rated per anniversary year)Parental LeaveSick/personal days per city & state ordinancePet Insurance discountCommunication SkillsUsing the English language, this person must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend policies, legal guidelines, correspondence, and memos. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.
Salaries will be based on the applicant's location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills.
