Job Summary

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical and electronic systems across assigned vessels, serving as the primary shore‑side technical lead for shipboard electrical matters, supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, drydock planning, projects, compliance, and system reliability across the fleet.

Essential Duties

  • Provide technical support to shipboard engineering teams for electrical system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability.
  • Serve as the primary shore‑side escalation point for complex electrical, automation, navigation, communication, and related system issues.
  • Plan and oversee electrical maintenance, drydock work, repairs, and upgrade projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, SOLAS, USCG, and company SMS requirements.
  • Maintain technical records, support audits and investigations, and provide periodic reporting on vessel condition and key risks.
  • Support purchasing, budgeting, vendor coordination, and project execution for assigned vessels.
  • Conduct vessel visits to assess system condition, support troubleshooting, and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent maritime technical qualification preferred.
  • Chief Electrical Officer certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting electrical systems in passenger vessel or comparable maritime environments.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, safety practices, planned maintenance systems, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
  • Ability to work onboard vessels, climb ladders, and occasionally work outside normal business hours.
  • Strong preference for candidates based in the Seattle area; hybrid position requires 3 days per week in Seattle office.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; basic Spanish proficiency would be an asset.

Physical Demands

  • Regular standing, walking, climbing, and movement onboard vessels and in office environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally more.

Compensation

Salary range: $105,000 – $120,000 per year. Bonus up to 7.5% annually.
