Electrical Engineer

Electrical EngineerPrimary purpose: Provide electrical engineering subject matter expertise to support operation and maintenance of natural gas, crude oil, CO2, and water pipelines and facilities.ResponsibilitiesEssential duties and responsibilities:Orchestrate and oversee the completion of power system studies and other electrical safety efforts including but not limited to electrical maintenance and safety trainingOrchestrate and oversee the completion of lightning mitigation installationsCoordinate electrical grounding studies and assist with the implementation of recommended changesSupport efforts to ensure consistent electrical practices across company assetsDevelop and/or update company electrical standards including material specifications, standard operating procedures, best practices, major design installations, and operator qualificationsReview electrical equipment vendor drawings and specificationsEnsure that electrical field inspections, installation, measurement, and maintenance are consistent with company and industry standardsSpecify key electrical equipment such as medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, transformers, VFD's, Soft Starts, UPS and solar systems, DC systems, protective relay protection schemes, etc.Provide electrical engineering subject matter expertise regarding new project design and equipment specificationEnsure facility electrical drawings are accurate and up-to-dateInteract internally and externally with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalismMaintain a high standard of ethical conductSpeak, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and careful listeningMaintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performanceWill work non-traditional hours as neededBe available by phone during non-traditional hoursMaintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general publicOther daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and definedQualificationsMinimum requirements :Education:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldSpecific Knowledge:5+ years of electrical engineering experienceNational Fire Protection Association code (NFPA) NFPA 70 – National Electrical CodeInstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers standards (IEEE) NESC – National Electrical Safety CodeCertifications, Licenses & Registrations:Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)Competencies, Skills & Abilities:Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and OutlookIntermediate proficiency with data entry / survey forms and other methods of data collectionFundamental knowledge in the design of electrical systems for large industrial facilitiesFamiliarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs), single line diagrams, electrical equipment schematics, MCC/SWGR elevations, and PDC layoutsExperience in power system studies including the use of device coordination, short circuit, arc flash, and other related studies as necessary (ETAP, SKM, etc.).Effective communication abilities with engineering and non-engineering staffMust be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rulesAbility to self-start and prioritize concurrent tasks and effortsPhysical Demands:Sitting; standing; walking or moving throughout facility; driving; talking; seeing (specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus); hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting up to 25 lbs.Minimal safety hazards; general office working conditions.Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.Working Conditions:Some overnight travel to engineering contractors, equipment providers, construction sites, and operations facilities may be required.Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.Supervisory Responsibility:NonePREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Above the minimum requirements;
