Job Description
nInsight Global is seeking an E&C Engineer to support a leading utility company's Renewables organization. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of capital improvement projects across multiple wind generation facilities throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, and surrounding regions. The engineer will oversee projects from initial planning through execution, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are achieved.
nThis is a highly autonomous project management role that requires strong coordination with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, project management experience, and exposure to renewable energy generation, particularly wind energy.
nDay-to-Day Responsibilities
nManage a portfolio of approximately 10-12 capital projects annually across wind generation facilities
nPlan, schedule, and execute projects from initiation through closeout
nCoordinate with Operations & Maintenance teams to prioritize and execute work
nManage contractors and vendor relationships throughout project lifecycles
nOrder project materials and equipment while monitoring budgets and schedules
nConduct equipment evaluations and limited research to identify optimal technical solutions
nDevelop project forecasts, budgets, and long-term capital plans
nTrack project performance, ensuring quality standards, schedule adherence, and cost control
nTravel to wind farm sites during construction activities to oversee project execution
nProvide regular project updates and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders

nSchedule: Monday-Friday, flexible start times
nTypical hours: 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
nWork Environment: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
nTravel: Approximately 10-15%, occasionally up to 20% during active construction periods
nRelocation: Open to non-local candidates willing to relocate at their own expense

nSkills and Requirements
nMust-Haves
nBachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline)
n3-7 years of engineering and/or project management experience
nExperience managing capital projects from planning through execution
nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills
nExperience working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, contractors, or field teams
nAbility to work independently with minimal oversight
nValid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 10-15% Nice-to-Haves
nRenewable energy industry experience, specifically wind generation
nPMP Certification
nProfessional Engineer (PE) License
nExperience supporting solar, hydroelectric, battery storage, or other renewable generation assets
nPrevious experience working for a utility company, renewable developer, or wind turbine OEM (Vestas, GE, Siemens Gamesa, etc.)
