Division Director - Pediatric Genetics & Metabolism Physician (Academic or Tenured Track)

Position Overview

The University of Minnesota, Department of Pediatrics seeks an MD/DO Physician, board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and Genomics, at the rank of Associate or Professor/Academic Track or Assistant Professor/Tenured Track to join the Division of Pediatric Genetics & Metabolism. The role includes service as Division Director and potential leadership of the Rare Disease Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide up to 60% clinical care for children and adults with genetic disorders.
• Lead the Rare Disease Center of Excellence, overseeing clinical operations and research initiatives.
• Develop the Pediatric Genetics Division into an epicenter of genetic and genomic research.
• Engage in interdisciplinary and inter-institutional clinical and research activities.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Build partnerships between pediatric and adult medicine to provide life‑span care for individuals with genetic disorders.
• Collaborate with the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, Maternal‑Fetal Medicine program, and genetics counselors.
• Provide care for a large patient population across Minnesota and the region.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ACGME Pediatric residency and Pediatric‑Medical Genetic fellowship‑training program.
• Graduates of ACGME Internal Medicine residency and Internal Medicine‑Medical Genetics fellowship‑training program may be considered with appropriate pediatric experience.
• Board‑certified or eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, American Board of Internal Medicine, or American Board of Pediatrics.
• Licensed or eligible to obtain medical license and DEA certificate in Minnesota.
• Demonstrated success in creating and executing strategic plans for a group of physicians/scientists.
• Demonstrated success in leading and/or supporting medical research and translating findings into practice.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective multidisciplinary relationships.
• Ability to work in the United States.
• Preferred qualifications: previous medical leadership experience and leadership in programs related to rare diseases.

Pay and Benefits

• Salary range $186,100–$338,00, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE.
