Onsite Full Time Staffing and Recruiting

My Client is hiring a West Division Controller to lead and develop four accounting leaders across its Denver-area entities and an entity with sites in Utah, Idaho, and Washington. This new position is focused on giving location controllers the coaching and support they need, while strengthening financial analysis, accounting processes, and communication with operations.

You'll work closely with controllers who bring different levels of experience, including three who need more hands-on development. The emphasis is on staying close enough to understand where support is needed, helping people build their capabilities, and giving them room to own their work rather than micromanaging them.

What You'll Do

  • Lead four direct reports, tailoring your coaching, training, and mentoring to each person's experience and development needs.
  • Spend time with the Denver-area teams, and maintain regular contact with the controller in North Salt Lake.
  • Help develop and improve accounting policies and procedures across the entities you support.
  • Coordinate external audits and support the controllers in working with auditors.
  • Support financial analysis across the entities and coach the team on explaining financial results to operations leaders.
  • Partner with operations and executives to make financial information clear and useful.
  • Help define, refine, and implement processes as part of ongoing continuous-improvement work.
  • Support an upcoming ERP transition. The software has not yet been selected.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience supervising accounting teams, with a focus on coaching and developing less-experienced leaders.
  • The ability to assess where a controller needs help and provide practical support without taking away their ownership.
  • Experience with financial reporting, analysis, and external auditors.
  • The ability to communicate financial results with operations teams and executives.
  • Experience developing or improving accounting policies, procedures, and processes, and a willingness to help lead change.

Helpful, but not required:

  • CPA qualification.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting an ERP transition.
  • An agricultural industry background.

Location and Travel

This role is based in the Denver area, with time spent alongside the local teams, including in Platteville. Working from home is an option.

Travel will primarily be to North Salt Lake, monthly or every other month. Occasional visits to operating sites in Utah, Idaho, and Pasco, Washington, are also expected, with Pasco visits anticipated around once or twice a year.
