About The Role
The US Marketplace team is looking for a motivated and hands‑on operator to be the Director of Local Markets. As a Strategy & Operations Director, you’ll be responsible for driving marketplace growth in every U.S. market, across a variety of market types. You will report into the Growth and Markets team, leading cross‑functional collaboration between DoorDash’s marketing, sales, product, finance, and analytics teams to deliver new products and service level improvements to drive local market growth. You'll have the opportunity to help define new ways to grow locally, incubate 0-1 experiments, scope partnership opportunities, foster relationships with external partners, and execute on a roadmap to grow the marketplace at the local level.
Responsibilities
- Lead – From day one you’ll lead a team, helping the team to further develop the muscle of lowest level of detail analyses and execution rigor
- Business development – Develop relationships with new growth partners and top merchants
- Influence – Work cross‑functionally across the U.S. Marketplace Organization to help craft roadmaps, secure investment, and partner with other organizations to improve the user experience at local level
- Build – Explore growth opportunities alongside our partners in Product, Marketing, Analytics, Engineering, and Operations teams
- Analyze – Shape and define our strategy based on quantitative and qualitative data, querying data directly and empowering yourself with AI tooling (Cursor, Claude)
- Operate – Figure out how to get from A to B—then actually make it happen
- Grow – Help the business get 1% better every day
Qualifications
- You have 10+ years of experience in strategy & operations or other operating roles; high‑growth startup experience is advantageous
- You have 5+ years of people management experience
- You have experience leading cross‑functional projects and hitting goals
- You are comfortable running analysis and manipulating datasets; SQL is required and experience using AI tools (Cursor, Claude) is preferred
- You always look for ways to improve and want to shape the direction of the company
- You can motivate people at all levels across the organization
- You can translate high‑level goals into relevant plans
- You love getting to a low level of detail
Compensation
The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants.

Paid Time Off Details
- For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year
- For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g., about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g., about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
Salary Range
$197,200—$290,000 USD (United States, including Illinois and Colorado)
