Hybrid Full Time Manufacturing & Production

At Xealth, we’re revolutionizing healthcare by leveraging data and automation to empower care providers—building on EHRs such as Epic and Cerner—to seamlessly prescribe, deliver, and monitor digital health for patients. We are a detail‑oriented team committed to maintaining high standards while moving with agility and impact.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization as we scale our digital health platform. This hands‑on leadership role is for someone who has grown up as a strong individual contributor and evolved into a leader capable of setting technical direction, building and mentoring high‑performing teams, and driving engineering execution in a fast‑moving healthcare SaaS environment.

What You’ll Own

  • Own engineering execution across one or more product areas, partnering closely with Product, Design, and the CTO on roadmap and technical strategy.
  • Build, mentor, and scale engineering teams – including hiring, performance management, and career development for engineers and engineering managers.
  • Drive architectural decisions for highly available, secure, HIPAA‑compliant cloud services running on AWS.
  • Establish and evolve engineering processes (agile practices, code review standards, on‑call/incident response, technical documentation).
  • Champion the adoption of AI‑assisted software development practices across the engineering org – including tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and agentic coding workflows – to improve velocity and code quality.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Security, Compliance, and Customer Success to ensure engineering work supports Xealth’s healthcare partnerships and regulatory obligations.
  • Communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including executive leadership and the board.
  • Manage vendor and infrastructure decisions in partnership with the CTO.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated depth as a hands‑on engineer before moving into leadership.
  • Track record of leading engineering teams (5‑25+ engineers) through significant growth or complexity.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills – able to influence, align, and motivate teams as well as communicate clearly with executives and non‑technical partners.
  • Must be open to working a hybrid schedule; office in Seattle.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of AWS and cloud‑native architecture, with direct experience designing and operating highly scalable, resilient distributed systems.
  • Experience with modern software architecture patterns (microservices, event‑driven systems, API design).
  • Comfort operating in a security‑ and compliance‑conscious environment.

AI Fluency

  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI as a force multiplier in the software development lifecycle – not just familiarity, but hands‑on experience integrating AI coding tools, agentic workflows, or LLM‑based tooling into engineering practice.
  • Ability to evangelize and operationalize AI adoption across an engineering organization, balancing productivity gains with code quality and security.

Preferred

  • Experience in SaaS, ideally in healthcare or another regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) or EHR integration ecosystems.
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security requirements.
  • Background scaling engineering orgs at high‑growth startups.

How We Work

  • Hybrid in Seattle – we value in‑person collaboration and flexibility in equal measure.
  • Infrastructure managed as code – if it’s not in Git, it doesn’t exist.
  • On‑call expectations are reasonable and shared across the team.
  • You’ll have real autonomy over architectural decisions, not just implementation work.

Benefits

  • Paid parental leave.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision policies. Xealth covers 100% of employee premiums. We also provide Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Xealth provides your laptop and offers a home office stipend.
  • Generous learning & development opportunities for you to grow your skills and career.
  • 401k Match: Xealth offers a dollar‑for‑dollar match up to 5%.
  • Flexible time off & 10 standardized holidays.
  • $500 yearly fitness stipend to spend on staying active.

Xealth offers a multi‑tiered approach when constructing a highly competitive compensation package. The compensation package would include a base salary, bonus, and a comprehensive suite of benefits. The base salary compensation range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000, depending on geographic market.

EEO & Hiring Eligibility

Xealth is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to be hired.
