Overview
The Director of Benefits provides strategic and operational leadership for the Benefits team within the Office of Total Rewards, partnering closely with the Sr. Director of Total Rewards to advance key priorities. This role owns the development, implementation, and administration of the University's Health Care and Retirement Plans for faculty, staff, and retirees. We're looking for someone who brings demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have prior success in leading innovative, comprehensive benefit programs that help us recruit, retain, and reward a talented, diverse workforce, all in support of the broader HR and University mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive strategic assessment of benefits needs, partnering with HR and University leadership to build data-driven recommendations and business cases
- Shape the vision and philosophy for Benefits within our Total Rewards strategy, rallying leadership and teams around it
- Design and implement benefits programs aligned with University goals, compliance requirements, and market best practices
- Lead, develop, and inspire the Benefits team
- Manage multiple large-scale benefits initiatives across the Total Rewards organization
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, and other federal/state regulations
- Step in for the Sr. Director as needed
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required
- 7 years of progressive Benefits experience, encompassing various aspects of the Benefits function including 2 years of supervisory experience, required
