Director, Data Center Development — Miami, FL
A high-growth North American digital infrastructure company is seeking a Director of Data Center Development to execute the preconstruction phase of large-scale data center projects across the US.
The Role
With a strong pipeline of sites already secured, this role is focused on what comes next — getting them built‑ready. You'll drive all predevelopment activity from due diligence through entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination, handing off fully de‑risked projects to the construction team.
This is also an early‑stage opportunity within a growing function — there's real scope to help shape how development gets done and grow with the role as the business scales.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical and regulatory due diligence on acquired sites
- Own the entitlements and permitting process across multiple jurisdictions
- Coordinate with utilities on power delivery, interconnection agreements, and capacity commitments
- Manage external consultants, engineers, and local advisors through the preconstruction phase
- Work closely with construction, finance, and operations to ensure seamless project handoff
- Track and report development progress across a multi‑site portfolio
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years in data center or heavy infrastructure development
- Solid experience with entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously across different markets
- Established relationships with utilities, municipalities, and regulatory bodies
- Based in or willing to relocate to Miami
