Job Function
Oversee and direct personnel to provide the highest performance in customer service (world class customer experience), operational excellence, and financial results while delivering new electric service (residential, small commercial, large commercial) for the island of Oahu. Represent the company in working with customers, developers, large property owners, and government agencies, and support emergency response activities.
Essential Functions
- Oversee and direct personnel to provide the highest performance in customer service, operational excellence, and financial results while providing new electric service (residential, small commercial, large commercial) for the island of Oahu, including directing division policies, practices, workforce staffing, and 5‑year capital and O&M budget.
- Develop, initiate, and manage division activities and programs to ensure division and company goals and objectives are achieved and meet financial and regulatory compliance needs of the company, customers, and stakeholders.
- Represent the company in working with customers, developers, large property owners, and government agencies (city, state, federal, military, Hawaii Public Utilities Commission).
- Drive a culture of safety, employee recognition, and development through proactive leadership and example, ensuring adherence to safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and compliance with federal, state, and company safety regulations.
- Participate in company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for emergency response.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of principles of power engineering, transmission, distribution, generation, substation, and planning.
- Knowledge of the major elements of the electric utility business, especially in a regulated environment, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to Hawaii Public Utilities Commission rules and regulations, bargaining contract, electric service installation manual (ESIM), health and safety manual, etc.
- Knowledge of project and program management standards and methodologies, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing projects, developing work breakdown structures, tracking progress, managing scope, and mitigating risk.
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Knowledge of emotional intelligence in managing and influencing individuals.
- Knowledge of general procurement policies and processes.
- Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross‑disciplinary teams.
- General knowledge of practical pole and line, generation, and substation construction.
- Knowledge of leadership and change management methodologies and practices typically acquired through formal training.
- Working knowledge of business process improvement and reengineering systems.
- Working knowledge of the union contract and managing union employees.
- Working knowledge of financial controls and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications.

Experience Requirements
- Extensive (7 or more) years of supervisory and leadership experience.
- Five or more years of experience in the regulated electric utility industry.
- Five or more years of experience building relationships with business leaders, customers, and stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Electrical Engineering (PE) license.
- Master’s degree in business administration.
- Experience in regulatory matters before the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission.
- Experience in distribution power system design and construction, tariff, and distribution standards.

Hiring Range: $141,400.00 to $183,800.00 (based on skills and qualifications).
