Diesel MechanicThe Diesel Mechanic supports the Supervisor and the Royal Caribbean Maintenance Team by performing duties delegated to them, ensuring all maintenance and repair tasks are completed to company standards. As part of the RCMT, mechanics are trained specialists capable of executing all types of diesel machinery-related maintenance and repair, including complex engine overhauls. Team members rotate between vessels as assigned by the Manager Power Plant Services, carrying out specific engine overhauling and maintenance projects according to operational needs.The role requires adaptability, technical expertise, and a commitment to upholding Royal Caribbean Group's safety, compliance, and environmental standards during all assignments.Execute manufacturers maintenance activities on Wartsila or MAN diesel engines onboard RCG ships under the supervision of Diesel Team Leader.Overhaul and replace cylinder heads, pistons, and linersOverhaul fuel pumps and fuel system in generalOverhaul attached cooling water and lube oil pumpsService crankshaft bearings and connecting rod bearings (both big end and small end).Assist with overhauling of miscellaneous propulsion and auxiliary systems when necessary.Additional routines and work as assigned by supervisorDiesel Mechanic must possess strong technical expertise in diesel engine maintenance, with a minimum of five years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic in power plants or marine vessels, enabling them to perform manufacturer-prescribed maintenance activities on Wartsila or MAN engines.

Demonstrated proficiency in all core diesel engine maintenance tasks, including:Use of hydraulic tensioning tools and a solid understanding of hydraulic stud stretching principlesOverhauling and replacement of cylinder heads, pistons, and linersOverhauling fuel pumps and fuel injection systemsOverhauling attached cooling water and lube oil pumpsServicing crankshaft bearings and connecting rod bearings (both big and small end)Fundamental knowledge of engine operating systems (Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Cooling Water, Air)Preferred qualifications include experience with precision measuring and the use/care of Chris Marine Machines:MAN: 48 - 60WARTSILA: 38 - 46VRL: Oversizing cylinder head bores for EX. valve seat ringsVSL: Machining valve seat sealing surfacesCPM/CPL: Machining sealing surfaces (liners, cylinder heads, block)DGL/HON: Cylinder liner honingBSP2-30/HVG: Valve cone grindingAdditional preferred experience includes maintenance of turbochargers and the ability to freeze components using Liquid Nitrogen or a Deep Freezer.EnglishUse this section to list the physical requirements to perform the daily tasks and job duties.WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear, and taste or smell. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency, including the lowering of lifeboats. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
