Design & Release Engineer - Underbody Structures

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay: $42.31+ per hour

Schedule: Hybrid (4 days per week onsite)

Are you an experienced Design & Release Engineer with a background in automotive body structures, sheet metal design, and product development? We are seeking a skilled engineer to lead the design, release, validation, and ongoing support of underbody structural components throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Own underbody structure components from concept through production and ongoing product development
• Design and release sheet metal components and assemblies, including floor panels, dash cowl structures, reinforcements, and front body structures
• Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate part manufacturability, stamping feasibility, and assembly requirements
• Manage engineering changes, release activities, and product documentation
• Support APQP activities and ensure successful launch readiness
• Coordinate testing, validation, and acceptance activities to confirm performance requirements are met
• Work closely with CAE, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
• Maintain engineering data, bills of materials, and release documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
• Experience with automotive Design & Release Engineering processes
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, steel and aluminum structures, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with APQP, change management, engineering releases, and product validation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage projects and component ownership throughout the product lifecycle
• Experience with automotive engineering systems and BOM management preferred
