Lead the team that answers questions about the pros and cons of various products, assist in finding the right shade of paint, or help our customers locate a specific brand or item. The role supports overall department operations by providing employee orientation and development, scheduling coverage, managing performance, leading by example when assisting customers and finding ways to improve the service provided by JAX. Duties include coordinating with the buyers team to provide feedback on products, visual merchandising with product displays, managing inventory, stocking, and organizing the department. Additional tasks include:Creating schedules two weeks in advanceEnsuring coverage by working with employees or stepping up fill gaps when necessaryProviding honest and informative answers about our productsAddressing loss prevention concernsParticipating in inventory responsibilitiesAssembling new stockMaintaining a clean and well-stocked areaComplete record-keeping and creating reportsCompletes special ordersCoordinates with others to plan for sales and promotionsEnsure proper documentation and pricing of productsWorks to engage and inspire teamwork with department employeesOur ideal candidate is experienced in retail management, is willing to pitch-in and help, is well-organized, takes initiative, communicates well, and has an engaging and positive approach to customer service. Knowledge, skills and abilities desired for this position include:Previous experience and interest in retail leadership preferredProven record at rallying small teams and leading by enthusiastic exampleExperience doing home repairs, remodeling projects, paint jobs, etc. requiredKnowledge of the brands carried by JAX for hardware, tools, and paint products preferredPrior top-notch customer service experiencePrior retail lead or supervisory experienceComfort and adaptability with learning new technology or computer systemsAbility to be flexible and work retail hoursEngaging and positiveEffective trouble-shooting skillsAbility to present and maintain a professional demeanorSchedule Requirements:Must be available at least one weekend day and at least one week nightFlexible availability requiredPay Range: $18.00 - $20.00Positions: 1 Full-Time position availableCompany Benefits:Jax Mercantile offers a variety of benefits and rewards for our employees.
