Data EngineerThe Data Engineer at Hercules Industries is responsible for building, governing, and continuously improving the data foundation that powers decision-making across supply chain, operations, and commercial functions. This role serves as both a steward of data integrity and a builder of scalable data infrastructure, enabling accurate, connected, and actionable data across the organization. $90,000 - $107,000 per year, DOEThe Data Engineer directly supports advanced analytics, MRP optimization, and real-time decision-making, forming a critical component of Hercules' transition to a modern, data-centric enterprise.Own the design, integrity, and performance of Hercules' data ecosystem by establishing scalable architecture, governing data quality, and enabling accessible, reliable data that drives operational and strategic decision-making across the business.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Establish and enforce data governance standards across ERP, data warehouse, and connected systemsEnsure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of core datasets (item master, lead times, safety stock, supplier and customer data)Identify and remediate data quality issues through structured audits and data initiativesDefine ownership, workflows, and controls for maintaining high-quality master dataImplement monitoring systems to proactively detect and resolve data anomaliesDesign and maintain scalable data architecture connecting ERP (Infor M3), data warehouse, CRM, and external systemsBuild and manage data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ensure timely and accurate data availabilityEnable seamless data flow across systems to support real-time and near-real-time decisionsStandardize data models to support analytics and operational processesEnsure MRP and planning systems are supported by accurate and structured dataPartner with supply chain and operations to optimize lead times, safety stock, and planning parametersIdentify and resolve data issues driving inefficiencies in purchasing, production, and inventorySupport the evolution of MRP into a proactive, optimized planning systemBuild data models that make data accessible for analysts, data scientists, and business leadersDevelop datasets that enable rapid analysis and insight generationSupport dashboards, reporting tools, and self-service analytics capabilitiesEnsure key business metrics are consistently defined and trustedPartner with Data Science to provide clean, structured datasets for modelingTranslate business requirements into data architecture solutionsWork with supply chain, operations, and finance leaders to prioritize data needsServe as a bridge between technical systems and business applicationLead initiatives to modernize data infrastructure and capabilitiesIdentify opportunities to automate manual processes and eliminate workaroundsDrive transition toward a fully integrated, data-driven operating modelEstablish best practices for data engineering within the organizationPerformance in this role is measured through contribution to:Data accuracy, integrity, and reliability across systemsSystem integration and data pipeline performanceMRP and planning system effectivenessAccessibility and usability of data for decision-makingReduction of manual processes and data issuesBusiness impact including inventory, service levels, and operational efficiencyMeasurable business impact across supply chain, operations, and commercial performanceData-driven decision-making becomes embedded in daily operationsStrong adoption of models and insights across the organizationContinuous pipeline of high-value analytical initiativesRecognized as a key contributor to enterprise transformationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the below essential duties satisfactorily.
