Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range that reflects the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate.

$106,300.00 - $175,400.00

The role involves handling litigation arising from claims against policyholders or the company, managing cases from inception through trial and appeal, and optimizing outcomes for Travelers’ insured customers.
What Will You Do?
- Manage a caseload that is predominantly low to moderate complexity.
- Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
- Conduct legal research and provide strong, persuasive legal writing and presentation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and related documents.
- Attend court events, depositions and other appointments independently.
- Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on handling strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, business partners and colleagues.
- Offer advice and training to claim partners and clients.
- Utilize technology and case‑management systems efficiently.
- Travel as required to meet business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
- Experience independently handling cases from inception through trial/hearing and appeal.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present information on litigated matters to diverse audiences.
- Skilled at fostering collaborative relationships to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong legal research skills and the ability to use technology.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
- Sound decision‑making and negotiation skills.
- Flexible, agile mindset and willingness to take on new challenges as needs evolve.
What is a Must Have?
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school.
- 2 years experience as a practicing attorney.
- Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) where representation is required.
- Regular experience handling hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, depositions or other court proceedings and the ability to travel to those meetings; valid driver‑license required depending on location.
