Junior Controls Applications Specialist

We are currently looking for a Junior Controls Applications Specialist for our Miami location. Candidates will also be considered for our Deerfield Beach location, but Miami is preferred. This position will require attendance on‑site.

Responsibilities

  • Tech support and troubleshooting, both on‑site and through email and phone support
  • Read and draft architectural and engineering drawings
  • Work with AutoCAD (2008 or newer), Outlook, Word, Excel, Podio, SensorView, Visual Lighting Software
  • Document technical and sales solutions including lighting control plans, wiring diagrams, symbol legends, riser details, specifications, and full submittal drawings
  • Design and aid the development and maintenance of standard work templates, design/sales tools, technical libraries, and systems to increase applications engineering work efficiency, consistency, reliability, and output quality
  • Work with contractors, sales, field support, and partners to provide technical support, specifications for controls layouts diagrams, generate layouts and bills of material within a specified timeframe
  • Utilize computer assisted engineering and design software (Autodesk CAD) alongside architects and electrical engineers by developing templates such as CAD blocks and hardware libraries with part numbers
  • Revise Architectural and Engineering Drawings based on the feedback from the electrical engineers and architects
  • The lighting controls application engineer will advise on proper lighting control hardware placement and then return the drawings back to the architect and/or electrical engineer for them to officially “stamp” during the design development and construction drawing phase
  • Attend regular internal product training meetings with the controls team
  • Attend manufacturer events and product trainings/meetings

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain a high level of customer support through email, phone, and in‑person interaction
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Comfortable communicating with individuals with varying degrees of controls and technical know‑how, both internal and external to Power and Lighting Systems
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) knowledge
  • High level of computer and technology comfort
  • Fast learner
  • Highly motivated
  • Very organized

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress in engineering, architecture, or related technical field
  • Knowledge of building electrical systems, circuits, and wiring
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding electrical and architectural plans
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and ASHRAE standards
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
