THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re partnering with a respected nonprofit organization in Portland seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and support the organization’s financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys mission-driven work and wants to play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and organizational decision-making.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and month-end/year-end close
• Lead financial reporting and ensure accurate, timely financial statements
• Manage and develop the accounting team
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Coordinate annual audits and tax filings
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and applicable regulations
• Partner with leadership on financial planning and organizational strategy
• Provide financial insight to support organizational decision-making

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Nonprofit accounting experience required
• Previous Controller or accounting leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience with audits, budgeting, and grant accounting
• Strong leadership and communication skills
