Controller

Location: Denver Metro Area, CO
Schedule : 100% Onsite M-F

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the integrity of the company's financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and strategic financial support. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys improving processes, mentoring a team, and partnering with operations to drive business performance.

Responsibilities of Controller:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and present insights to executive leadership.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and support strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiencies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Qualifications of Controller:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
