About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the integrity of the company's financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and strategic financial support. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys improving processes, mentoring a team, and partnering with operations to drive business performance.
Responsibilities of Controller:
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and present insights to executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and support strategic initiatives.
- Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiencies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
Qualifications of Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
