Job Description

Serve as a member of the Developmental‑Behavioral Pediatrics interdisciplinary team while conducting comprehensive developmental and neuropsychological assessments as well as customized therapeutic treatment plans. Patients include infants through middle‑school aged children presenting with a range of developmental concerns. The predominant patient population includes children born prematurely, children with complex medical histories, genetic conditions, or chronic illnesses, and children with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning differences, developmental delays/intellectual disabilities, and anxiety/mood disorders.

Job Summary

Provides psychological diagnosis and psychotherapeutic interventions and treatments, and consults in the field of clinical/rehabilitation psychology and/or neuropsychology in a hospital inpatient/outpatient setting with interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams and other medical specialties.

Essential Functions

• As a member of multidisciplinary treatment team, plan treatment programs and disposition of cases, including identifying treatment outcomes.
• Assess patients identified to have potential psychological emergencies. Consult with colleagues and/or Risk Management as necessary for unusual or emergency cases.
• Conduct psychological assessments.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient assessed.
• Consult with patients outside mental health providers.
• Provide appropriate referrals to outside mental health services as indicated or requested.
• Evaluate client response to treatment, modify treatment strategies and include the client as part of the decision‑making process.
• Generate reports of diagnostic and psychological findings and/or treatment recommendations.
• Intervene with clients to enhance their ability to fully participate in treatment, including defining treatment goals and designing intervention strategies that support recovery and resiliency.
• Maintain detailed medical records for every contact (individual and group) and clinical phone calls.
• May participate in hospital research or program development as appropriate.
• Obtain and study medical, psychological, social and family histories, by interviewing individuals, couples, or families and reviewing relevant records.
• Participate in professional staff conferences concerning psychological assessment methods, techniques and results.
• Perform direct service activities including diagnostic evaluation, structured clinical interviewing, and individual, group, and family therapy.
• Provide in‑patient consultation to patients with acute psychological issues.
• Provide patients with information about support groups and/or additional educational resources as indicated or requested.
• Select, administer and interpret a wide variety of psychological testing instruments for the diagnosis and evaluation of clients with psychiatric and co‑occurring disorders.
• Utilize a variety of treatment modalities such as psychotherapy, behavior modification, and various evidence‑based or promising practices such as cognitive‑behavioral therapy.
• Deliver individual cognitive‑behavioral psychotherapy and facilitate group sessions for patients.
• Meet individually with group patients who appear to have significant issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctoral degree from an APA‑accredited graduate program in clinical or counseling psychology.
• Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience; completion of an APA‑accredited clinical psychology internship.
• License/Certification: PY—Licensed as a Psychologist by the State of California.

Knowledge

• Ability to design appropriate treatment interventions, evaluate results, and make modifications as needed.
• Ability to select, administer, and score various psychological assessments.
• Ability to build therapeutic relationships with clients, conduct crisis intervention, and make appropriate referrals.
• Knowledge of a broad range of psychological assessment techniques.
• Knowledge of abnormal, developmental, personality, and social psychology.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
• Knowledge of principles of psychopharmacology and psychobiology; psychometric and statistical theories and methodology; psychological research methods and experimental design.
• Knowledge of theory and practice of individual and group psychotherapy.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $65.55 to $81.94
