Cardiac Anesthesiologist

Somnia Anesthesia is seeking a TEE-certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join their expanding team within Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. This full-time hybrid position offers the opportunity to provide anesthesia care for a diverse mix of complex cardiac procedures and general surgical cases. The role is part of a collaborative, physician-led ACT practice, ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys maintaining a broad clinical practice beyond cardiac anesthesia.

Practice Info

• Physician-led ACT practice
• Approximately 60% cardiac cases, with the remaining case mix consisting of diverse general anesthesiology cases
• Cardiac practice includes Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Valve Repair & Replacement, Structural Heart Procedures (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman), Endovascular Procedures (EVAR, Peripheral Vascular Interventions), and other complex cardiovascular procedures
• General practice includes a variety of general surgical specialties
• Busy tertiary care environment

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for both cardiac and general surgical procedures
• Utilize perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) during cardiac cases
• Collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, CRNAs, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Deliver high-quality patient care
• Document anesthesia care in accordance with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and Somnia standards

Compensation

• Competitive annual compensation (based on experience)
• 1099: $15,697.65 per week +$50,000 annual stipend +$35,000 annual subspecialty stipend
• Commencement Bonus: $25,000 in year one and an annual Retention Bonus starting in year two
• Premium Pay for additional hours worked over scheduled time
• Up to $10,000 Relocation Assistance Available
• Referral bonus of up to $5,000 if a recommended colleague is hired

Shift & Schedule

• 39 weeks of service
• General Call Rotation: 48 calls per year
• Average 1 per week in-house with a CRNA
• Post-call day off
• Non-call-taking full-time option: M-F

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Eligible for Tennessee Medical Licensure
• DEA Registration
• BLS and ACLS Certification
• TEE Certification Required
• Demonstrated experience providing anesthesia for open-heart and structural heart procedures
• Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship preferred but not required
