Business Systems Analyst (Insurance)Location: Golden Valley, MN (Hybrid)Pay Range: $40-$45/hr Contract To Hire: $85k SalaryRole OverviewThe client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support system documentation, translation, and implementation efforts within a highly regulated life insurance environment. This role is system-focused, bridging business intent and how the insurance policy administration system actually behaves in production.This BSA role is responsible for translating those needs into system behavior, documentation, and artifacts that support system testing, insurance operations, and ongoing platform understanding. This position sits in a documentation-heavy space and requires strong experience working within policy administration systems and enterprise documentation tools—particularly Confluence.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate business requirements into system behavior, clearly documenting how the system is configured and functions.Create and maintain "how the system actually works" documentation for the policy admin platform and related policy admin processes.Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into system-ready documentation for downstream system test teams.Produce detailed system documentation, process flows, and user guides to support insurance processors and operational teams.Serve as a key partner between business, systems, and testing teams to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of requirements.Support a documentation migration initiative, moving legacy materials into Confluence.Convert and modernize business requirement documents from Excel into structured Confluence pages.Maintain documentation standards, versioning, and traceability in a regulated insurance environment.Required QualificationsProven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or hybrid BA/BSA in a systems-heavy environment.Strong understanding of policy administration systems (life insurance experience strongly preferred).Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into system behavior and technical documentation.Extensive experience working in documentation-heavy roles.Hands-on experience creating: system documentation, process documentation, user guides for operational or insurance users.Required tool: ConfluenceExperience migrating content into ConfluenceExperience restructuring documentation from Excel or other formats into ConfluenceAbility to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders, system teams, and test teams.Preferred / Nice-to-HavePrior experience supporting or documenting life insurance policy administration platforms.Familiarity with system testing workflows and how documentation feeds QA and UAT efforts.Experience in regulated environments (insurance, financial services).
