Branch Manager – Commercial Landscape Operations (Midwest | $8–10M Branch)
This is a senior, hands‑on Branch Manager role responsible for leading a high‑revenue commercial landscape operation with a strong foundation and meaningful upside. The branch services a predominantly Class A commercial portfolio (office, medical, retail, industrial) with an expanding multifamily and municipal footprint , and is entering a critical phase of cultural stabilization and operational refinement.
The Branch Manager will own day-to-day operations, people leadership, and financial performance , serving as the cultural and operational “glue” of the branch. This leader must balance strong P&L discipline with a people‑first, field‑forward leadership style , spending meaningful time with crews, Account Managers, and Operations Managers to drive accountability, morale, and performance.
Why This Role Matters
The prior leader leaned heavily toward rigid policy enforcement and office‑bound management. This role is intentionally designed to reset the tone: visible leadership, judgment over rigidity, and operational excellence grounded in real‑world field execution .
The right leader will:
- Stabilize and elevate client retention toward 90%+
- Develop and coach a multi‑layer leadership team
- Improve attendance, engagement, and frontline culture
- Drive EBITDA through disciplined execution—not bureaucracy
- Build a bench for long‑term leadership continuity
Scope & Structure
- Reports to: Senior Leadership initially (with long‑term alignment under Director of Operations)
- Direct Reports:
- 2 Account Managers
- 3 Operations / Production Managers
- Branch Administrator
- Supported by: Centralized HR & Finance, plus an in‑house field recruiter
- Branch Scale:
- $8–10M revenue
- ~65% Class A commercial
- Growing multifamily and municipal work
- 4‑acre facility with ~37,000 sq. ft. shop/warehouse/office
- Fleet primarily 2017+ with newer small equipment
This is not a stepping‑stone role.
The ideal candidate is a proven Branch Manager / General Manager with:
- 3+ years leading a $7M–$12M commercial landscape branch
- Deep industry experience (non‑negotiable)
- A reputation for leading from the front
- Strong financial fluency without “spreadsheet‑only” thinking
- Comfort operating in the gray—judgment, nuance, and trust matter here
This leader should be comfortable spending 40–60% of their time in the field , setting the tone early in the day, coaching leaders, reinforcing standards, and staying close to crews and clients.
Compensation & Timing
- Base Salary: $110K–$130K (target sweet spot: ~$120K)
- Bonus: 15–25% performance‑based (EBITDA, retention, operational KPIs)
- Total Comp Potential: ~$140K–$150K
- Target Start: ASAP / Early Q1 to allow runway before peak season
This role is ideal for a seasoned operator who wants real ownership, real influence, and the ability to build something that lasts , without being buried in bureaucracy.
