Billing Analyst

This position could be based in any of our West Coast offices or in our Global Operations & Innovation Center in Wheeling, WV. Noting, the hours for the Wheeling office are 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.What responsibilities will you have?Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as requiredMaintain a portfolio of billing attorneysReview and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requestsProcess write-offs following Firm policyAbility to handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner (i.e., multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, preparation of electronic bills)Ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clientsReview and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as requiredResearch and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problemsWork with applications team to create and implement new billing formatsCreate and distribute monthly reportsAdhere to Firm billing policiesUtilize computerized accounting and payables software programs (CMS, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilitiesEnsure strict confidentiality at all timesAssist with special projects, other duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsCollege level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience1-3 or more years hands-on billing experience in a law firmCMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experienceDemonstrated proficiency with MS OfficeAbility to multi-task and prioritizeAbility to organize work flow and use time efficientlyAbility to show strong attention to detailAbility to perform at high levels in a dynamic ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demandsAbility to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiativeFlexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or eveningsOrrick is a global law firm focused on delivering innovative solutions for four sectors: Technology & Innovation, Energy & Infrastructure, Finance and Life Sciences & HealthTech. We are recognized globally for delivering the highest-quality legal advice and for our culture of innovation and collaboration.Compensation and BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position: Silicon Valley and San Francisco $70,000 - $85,000 Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, and Seattle $66,000 - $81,000 Portland $63,000 - $78,000 Wheeling $56,000 - $70,000 Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
