Attendance Liaison
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office's Be at School division is seeking an experienced Attendance Liaison to partner with schools, youth, families, and community agencies to address barriers to school attendance within Hennepin County. Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at identified schools within Hennepin County, and remote as job duties require. Typical work hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire. This is a full-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as an Administrative Assistant, Senior.
In this position, you will:
- Have direct contact with youth, families, school staff, and community partners.
- Consult, collaborate, and create engagement plans to support increased school attendance for youth in Hennepin County and their families.
- Serve as a liaison between the families you serve, building trust, educating, and providing support to families regarding services and resources available.
- Determine community needs and make recommendations.
- Represent the Be at School program at outreach events, work collaboratively with schools, social workers, community agencies, and community partners.
- Train school personnel on recommended reporting procedures and practices for truancy response.
- Support data gathering for grant evaluation and outcomes review.
- Support contracts with community providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and four or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
- Eight or more years of experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.

- Education or training in fields related to student support or social-service work.
- Experience:
- Supporting community partners who provide services to youth or residents.
- Collaborating with school staff, students, and families to address attendance concerns.
- Working with diverse populations in Hennepin County.
- Managing multiple projects and delivering results.
- Working closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure successful project completion.
- Leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of trusted relationships with community members and organizations.
- Facilitating and leading organization-wide or community committees/sessions.
- Communicating with community members in verbal, written, and public speaking formats.
- Ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Skilled in:
- Creating a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters trust, open communication, and engagement.
- Using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
