Onsite Part Time Bio & Pharmacology & Health

Introduction

Our client is a privately owned hospital that is well respected in the community and is hiring an Associate Veterinarian due to growth. The current owner has owned the clinic since 1999 and is looking to continue expanding the hospital and team. The clinic currently sees small animal cats and dogs, although they are very open to expanding the species seen if an incoming doctor has a particular passion.

Role Description and Responsibilities

The Associate Veterinarian will be responsible for a mix of appointments and surgical procedures while handling wellness exams, preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, spay and neuter procedures, client education, and case management. Doctors are given autonomy over their cases and supported by a loyal client base. Appointment times are typically scheduled for 30 minutes, although the clinic is open to 20 minute appointments for doctors who thrive in a busier environment. Longer appointments are also welcomed for new graduates and early career doctors who may benefit from additional time. The clinic is open to discussing both full or part time schedules, ideally around 40 hours per week. They are happy to accommodate either a 4 or 5 day schedule, which will ideally include every other Saturday morning. This opportunity is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates. The current owner is passionate about mentorship and has mentored doctors in the past. Mentorship can be as structured and hands on as needed, with a tailored and individual approach based on the incoming doctor's needs and experience level.

Practice Details

The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm, and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm. The clinic is equipped with a new laser machine, ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental radiographs, monitoring equipment, doppler blood pressure equipment, two exam rooms, one surgery suite, and an electronic record system. Services offered include exams, vaccinations, dentistry, spay and neuter procedures, diagnostics, laser therapy, pet allergies, acupuncture, and end of life care. The clinic is also very open to expanding services if an incoming doctor has a particular passion or area of interest. The hospital is highly involved in the local community and works closely with shelters as well as the local police K-9 unit.

Team

The clinic currently has one DVM, who is also the owner, with plans to hire an additional two DVMs as the practice continues to grow. The support staff ratio is maintained at 3:1 and the current team includes four nurses, one assistant, a team of receptionists, and management staff. The hospital has a well tenured team with a great working environment and family feel. Staff turnover is low, and the team is highly collaborative with everyone working together to support one another.
