Associate Director, Sales
The Associate Director, Sales provides leadership to grow year-round revenue for the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), with a primary focus on digital advertising and other non-conference sales opportunities. This role leads the strategy and execution of sales efforts across AAN's digital platforms, meeting-related products, and other revenue-generating offerings. By building a strong pipeline, cultivating meaningful industry partnerships, and developing integrated advertising and sponsorship solutions, the Associate Director helps connect partners with AAN's highly engaged neurology audience. Working collaboratively across the organization, this position ensures campaigns are delivered effectively, compliantly, and with a high-quality advertiser experience that advances AAN's mission and revenue goals.
What We Look For
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business Management, Marketing, or related field
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of B2B sales experience, including digital advertising, sponsorship, or media sales; demonstrated success in generating $10 million+ in revenue as part of a team
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- Demonstratedability to uphold the AAN's values
- Experience selling digital advertising or sponsorships within a healthcare, association, publishing, or mission driven organization
- Experience developing integrated advertising or sponsorship proposals and managing complex sales cycles
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding revenue goals through consultative sales approaches
- Proficiency with CRM software and sales analysis tools (e.g. Salesforce or similar)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, manage multiple priorities and projects, and handle confidential information with limited supervision
- Demonstrates ability to supervise a team in a fast-paced environment and nurture individual career development and growth; ability to delegate and manage multiple projects on time and on budget
- Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- 3 years of pharmaceutical industry knowledge and experience is preferred
- Experience working in healthcare or non-profit association setting is preferred
Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Travel Requirements
Some travel required - up to 10%.
Location
Minneapolis, MN (hybrid: required to work in the office with ability to work remotely part of the week).
Schedule
Some evening and weekends required.
