Associate Attorney
A family law firm in Tyler, TX is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle a full-time caseload of family law matters. The attorney will work closely with clients and senior attorneys to provide effective representation and develop practical legal strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a full-time caseload involving divorce, child custody, adoption, CPS investigations, and child support enforcement.
- Meet with clients and assess their legal issues and needs.
- Provide clear and practical legal advice to clients, particularly in emotionally sensitive situations.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
- Appear in court for hearings, trials, and conferences.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and contested hearings where appropriate.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients and opposing counsel.
- Maintain accurate case files and comply with court deadlines.
- Contribute to firm initiatives and process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with the legal team to effectively manage cases and client matters.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in law and demonstrated experience or interest in family law matters.
- Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law where relevant to family law cases.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Texas or eligibility for admission.
- Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to clients in emotionally sensitive situations.
- Proficiency in legal research and case analysis, including statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Effective negotiation skills for settlements, mediation, and contested hearings.
- Strong written advocacy and drafting skills for pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
- Excellent verbal communication, courtroom presentation, and client counseling abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and work collaboratively with a legal team.
- Prior family law experience, clerkships, or internships in litigation settings are beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Tyler, TX.
