Core Functions
- Receives a focused experience in regional anesthesia during the block rotation.
- Evaluates patient’s therapeutic plan under the supervision of senior residents and attending staff.
- Assists Anesthesiologist by setting‑up equipment and preparing medications.
- Starts IVs and draws arterial and venous blood gases independently.
- Places central lines, arterial catheters, and chest tubes.
- Facilitates attending physician’s decisions regarding invasive procedures prior to initiation.
- Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia.
- Takes into consideration age‑specific issues to meet the needs of various patient groups.
- Maintains quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection‑control standards.
- Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
- Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings, and in‑services.
- Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Core Qualifications
- M.D., D.O., or comparable degree in relevant field.
- Certification in relevant specialty or field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
