AI Native Electrical EngineerHayla is building the intelligent direct current (DC) power layer for next-generation AI infrastructure. As data centers transition to higher-efficiency, high-voltage DC architectures — including emerging 800-volt systems — new hardware and control layers are required to deliver power with precision, safety, and real-time responsiveness. Hayla is developing that platform. We are a pre-seed company backed by leading investors and operators.
Joining now means helping define the architecture, engineering culture, and technical foundations of a new category in AI power systems. The RoleWe are seeking an AI-native electrical engineer who enjoys designing real hardware, modeling complex electrical systems, and turning concepts into validated prototypes. You will work across simulation, circuit design, gate-driver development, protection and sensing, and high-power lab testing. This role also involves collaboration with embedded controls, thermal/mechanical engineering, and system-level modeling. AI driven development has enabled much faster prototyping cycles.
The team is focused on leveraging modern tooling to move as quickly as possible. This includes managing agents, training models and taking AI to places it has not historically been. What You'll DoDesign and prototype power conversion, switching, and distribution circuits for DC systems, including 800-V-class architecturesDevelop gate driver circuits for fast-switching, modern semiconductor devicesPerform modeling and simulation across electrical, thermal, and system domains (SPICE and similar tools)Implement protection and sensing circuitry for current, voltage, temperature, and fault conditionsConduct iterative hardware bring-up, characterization, and validation using high-power lab equipmentOptimize PCB and mechanical layouts for switching performance, thermal reliability, EMI/EMC, and manufacturabilityCollaborate with embedded and controls engineers to integrate digital control interfaces (MCUs, DSPs, FPGAs, or similar platforms)Design hardware that supports dynamic power routing and rapid reconfiguration under real-time controlParticipate in design reviews, documentation, component selection, reliability assessments, and structured test planningWork cross-functionally with system architecture, thermal/mechanical engineering, and compute/power infrastructure teams to ensure system-level integrationHelp shape lab workflows, test procedures, and engineering practices for high-voltage developmentWhat We're Looking For3+ years of experience designing, prototyping, and testing power electronics systemsExtreme familiarity with the latest AI development approaches (Claude, Codex, Agents, Agent Harnesses)Strong foundation in high-voltage or high-power converter topologies and semiconductor behaviorHands-on experience with gate-driver design and fast-switching architecturesProficiency with simulation tools (SPICE variants, PLECS, PSIM, or similar platforms)Confidence working with high-power and high-voltage lab equipmentExperience debugging challenging electrical issues across switching, timing, sensing, and protection domainsAbility to drive designs from schematic ? layout ? prototype ?
