Position Information

Job Title: Adjunct SSS Counselor

Location: Yuba College service centers/campuses

Job Description

Under the direction of the TRiO Director, provide general counseling services to support the College’s recruitment and retention efforts. Counsel students on personal, career and educational matters, participate in orientation and counseling sessions, classroom presentations, workshops, assessment interpretation, outreach activities, evening assignments, and liaison duties with academic departments. Assignments include curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, committee work, and intervention strategies for academically challenged students. Work with electronic processes such as Curricunet, Tracdat, Degree‑Audit, and similar systems.

Required Duties

• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Apply knowledgeable advising practices, counseling models, and concepts successful with diverse student populations.
• Have at least two years of related work experience in financial aid, financial literacy, or retention and graduation programs.
• Occasional evening or weekend hours.

Required Qualifications

Education and experience:

• Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or related field.
• Possess a California Community College Life Credential in counseling.
• An MFT license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.
• All degrees and units must be from accredited institutions.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge in STEM majors.

Physical Demands, Range/Step, Salary

Range/Step: Step 1 – Step 7 (based on degree and teaching experience)

Salary Range: $50.71 – $81.09 per lecture hour
