And you'll grow and be challenged in your career while having a healthy balance with life outside of work.As an Accounting Manager on the Property Accounting team, you'll lead the accurate and timely accounting of Target's capital asset portfolio—across stores, global supply chain and logistics (GSCL), and corporate real estate. You'll oversee complex areas of U.S.

GAAP, particularly Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 360 – Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E); drive close activities; lead SOX-compliant controls; and generate insights that inform strategic decisions.In this highly visible role, you will influence the accuracy and integrity of asset records, including asset maintenance and valuations, support financial statement disclosures, and provide key reporting and analysis into results. You'll collaborate closely with Capital Finance, Construction, Real Estate, Tax, and Properties, while also leveraging technology, data, and automation to improve processes and strengthen outcomes—all while modeling a strong controllership mindset.Core Responsibilities:Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes: asset valuation maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial disclosures, and financial statement supportDrive technical accounting assessments and documentation for impairments, write-offs, property dispositions, land acquisitions, or other critical assessments impacting property accountingTranslate operational activity into accurate financial outcomes and help business partners understand key driversBuild clear, actionable reporting that supports storytelling across stakeholder levels—from peers to executive leadershipChampion SOX/internal control execution and continuous improvement initiativesLead or contribute to special projects and transformation efforts (automation, system enhancements, data consolidation, etc.)Model a controllership mindset—applying sound judgment, anticipating risk, and proactively shaping outcomes through strong financial and business insightAbout you:Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent)5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with exposure to capital assets accountingStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; exposure to or aptitude for ASC 360 (PP&E) is preferredProficiency with large ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and follow through on complex workstreamsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting topics to technical and non-technical audiencesEffective collaborator who can work across teams and functions in a matrixed organizationA digital-first mindset—comfortable with tools, data, and automation as enablers of more efficient work and better decision-makingDesired Requirements:Hands-on experience with impairments, fixed asset write-offs, land accounting, depreciation modeling, property dispositions, or capital project accountingBackground in expense accruals and balance sheet ownershipDemonstrated ability to develop efficiencies, automate manual work, and lead continuous improvementConfidence in storytelling with data—translating numbers into insights for different stakeholder levelsNaturally curious and seeks to understand the "why" behind the numbers—explores tools, data, and business context to improve outcomesThis position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
