Ideal candidate skills include:Enjoy working hard and pursues everything with energy and has a drive and need to finishHas a strong ethic of accountability and dedication to the jobHas functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishmentBe a team member that is easy to approach and talk to-builds rapport wellProvides excellent customer service to internal and external customersListens and communicates effectively and professionally both verbal and in writingUses time effectively to meet deadlinesConcentrates efforts on most important prioritiesHigher level of complex responsibilityEssential duties and responsibilities:Financial statement preparationReconcile several general ledger detail accountsAssist with quarterly and annual accounting reportsTrains and assists new accounting employeesProvide training to new hires on accounting software during new hire orientationActs in the capacity of the support for compliance, portfolio managers, and/or upper management involving challenging issues surrounding HUD and or RD subsidiesPost rent collections and adjustments as neededReview tenant activity in Boston Post and ResMan for accuracyPost rent corrections or adjustments as needed in Boston Post and ResManBi-weekly payroll processing including checking cash balances for available fundsDaily manual and AVID check processingDownloading miscellaneous bank statementsResearching bank and payroll JEs for othersTimely processing of security deposit dispositions (Move out packets) to include review of required documentsSet up bank transfersPost security deposit payments into Accounting softwarePrepare & post various journal entriesReconcile bank accountsTravel as required for in person classes and annual education conferencesPerforms other duties as assignedSupervisory responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilitiesQualifications and Physical DemandsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to understand Debits and Credits. SAGE and ResMan experience a plus.
Excel experience required.Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
