Role Description

The Captain role is a full-time, on-site position located in Honolulu, HI, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company vessels. Day-to-day tasks include navigating assigned routes, monitoring weather and sea conditions, conducting pre- and post-voyage inspections, and ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and company safety procedures. The Captain oversees passenger boarding and disembarkation, provides clear safety briefings, and maintains a professional, courteous environment for all guests. The role involves coordinating with shore-side personnel, maintaining logs and records, supervising crew members when applicable, and promptly addressing any operational or safety issues that arise during service.

Qualifications

• Strong maritime knowledge, including vessel handling, navigation, and understanding of local waters around Honolulu.
• Proven commitment to safety, including familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, emergency procedures, and safe passenger operations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse passengers and team members.
• Ability to work on-site in varying weather and sea conditions, including physical capability to perform duties aboard a vessel.
• Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license appropriate to vessel size and operation, with a clean safety and compliance record.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and reliability in following operational procedures and schedules.
• Previous experience in passenger vessel, water taxi, or similar marine operations is highly beneficial.
