Youth Immigration Program Supervising Attorney, CARECEN

Supervising AttorneyThe Supervising Attorney will supervise attorneys and fellows, working with and under the supervision of the Legal Director. The Supervising Attorney will liaise with external organizations and collaboratives on CARECEN's behalf and assist the Legal Director in the development of CARECEN's legal programs.Responsibilities:Develop, administer, and oversee CARECEN's Youth Immigration Program in collaboration with the Legal DirectorSupervise a team of attorneys and fellowsReview and provide feedback for all affirmative and defensive applications and written work product prepared by the Youth Immigration Program attorneys and fellowsProvide and/or identify relevant training opportunities for program staff and volunteersMaintain detailed records and reporting data for relevant grants and/or case managementProvide direct representation to a limited number of individuals on affirmative cases and/or in removal proceedingsLiaise with partner community-based organizations and other stakeholders to provide community education and legal servicesRepresent CARECEN in coalitions and meetingsOther duties as assignedQualifications:Admitted and in good standing to the practice of law in New YorkFive or more years' experience in both affirmative and defensive immigration law (law school experience will be considered)Prior experience supervising legal teamsPrior experience working with unaccompanied children and adults with childrenExcellent organizational, computer, research and communication skillsCreative, collaborative, self-directed and detail orientedMust be compassionate, exercise discretion, and possess cross-cultural sensitivityFluency in Spanish and English requiredHow to Apply:Email a detailed cover letter explaining why this job would be a great fit for you, a résumé and three (3) references to with "Youth Immigration Program Supervising Attorney" in the subject line.
