This position helps ensure building materials are accurately received, stored, staged, and loaded while providing excellent customer service and supporting overall operational success. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.Material Handling & Yard OperationsPull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficientlyReceive, organize, and store building materials in designated yard and warehouse locationsAssist with loading and unloading trucks, deliveries, and transfersVerify quantities and product accuracy before loading or shipmentSupport inventory organization and material flow throughout the facilityEquipment OperationOperate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (training and certification provided where applicable)Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concernsFollow all equipment operating procedures and company guidelinesYard Maintenance & SafetyMaintain clean, organized, and professional yard, warehouse, and storage areasMonitor racks, storage locations, and work areas to ensure materials are safely storedIdentify and report hazards, damaged materials, or unsafe conditionsFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirementsPromote a safety-first culture and support overall operational excellenceTeam CollaborationWork closely with yard personnel, warehouse staff, drivers, sales teams, and managementSupport daily operational goals and customer service objectivesAssist with additional yard, warehouse, and operational duties as assignedWhat you'll bring:Strong customer service and communication skillsPositive attitude and team-oriented mindsetStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced environmentBasic math and measurement skillsStrong work ethic and dependable attendanceExperience in a lumberyard, warehouse, building materials, or construction environmentForklift experience or willingness to obtain certificationExperience pulling orders and loading materialsFamiliarity with building materials and inventory handling practicesWork is performed primarily in outdoor yard and warehouse environmentsExposure to varying weather conditions, equipment, dust, and building materialsAbility to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shiftAbility to lift and move materials weighing up to 50–75 pounds as requiredAbility to safely operate material handling equipmentMay require overtime or weekend work based on business needsWhat you'll earn:Health Care BenefitsPaid Time OffBenefits for union-represented roles are determined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and may differ from standard company benefits.QXO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
