The Radiology Technologist is responsible for producing high‑quality diagnostic digital X‑ray images with special attention to radiation/safety regulations, including proper documentation and techniques. The role requires effective communication with patients and radiologists, and may include training new technologists and/or Patient Coordinators.
Responsibilities
- Produce high‑quality diagnostic X‑ray images.
- Ensure radiation safety and compliance with regulations; maintain proper documentation and techniques when working with patients and radioactive materials.
- Assess patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications and performing aseptic injection techniques.
- Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
- Assist with training of new Radiologic Technologists and/or Patient Coordinators.
- Troubleshoot the X‑ray unit and peripheral equipment (including computers, PACS, etc.).
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- ARRT (R) and state license, if applicable required.
- CPR certification required.
- Valid state driver’s license, if applicable.
Additional Qualifications
- Fixed setting : Successful completion of a Radiology School; ability to work at several locations; strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills; basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Mobile setting : Minimum of one year radiography or digital X‑ray experience preferred; local travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit.
- Radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease exposure.
- More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; ability to see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
- Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift patients for transfer or exam.
