- Performs quality radiologic procedures for the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs.
- Responsible for providing consistently high levels of customer service and continuous quality improvement (CQI)
- Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize patient safety and radiation protection and reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Consistently informs and prepares patients and family for radiographic/CT examinations.
- Practices effective medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
- Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate adjustments in technique and when necessary, contacts physician for intervention.
- Selects equipment, positioning, and radiographic technique to provide the highest quality images.
- Verifies exams are of good quality, identified and marked correctly, and repeats poor quality images.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing advanced radiographic examinations such as: intravenous pyelograms, tomograms, and joint injections and utilization of the C-Arm in surgery.
- Demonstrates competency in basic CT scanner operation and imaging techniques.
- Demonstrates effective radiation safety principles and shields patient accordingly.
- Demonstrates proficiency in operating computerized radiography and PACS systems.
- Consistently provides complete and appropriate exam related paperwork and completes exam in HIS and PACS systems.
- Assists in maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Takes an active role in training of students and ancillary personnel. Provides close oversight and instruction as needed or requested.
- Must be a graduate of a radiology program that is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
- Must be certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Must have license through Indiana Department of Health for Radiologic Technologist
- BLS required
