Writing Center Receptionist - StudentThis individual will serve in a receptionist role. They will assist visitors as they arrive and while they work in the computer area. This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, and staff to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position frequently requires the person to operate and inspect a computer and other Writing Center equipment to assist and/or instruct students on proper operation. 3.VISUALACUITY: This position requires the person to view a computer multiple hours in a day. They are asked to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4.WORKINGCONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor center, classroom, or office setting.Preferred Qualifications - 2 years experience in a customer service roleWork Hours - This position offers up to 25 hours per week. Sign students in and out of the Writing Center using the client tracking software. Perform clerical duties such as answer the phone, operate Excel for data entry, and send/reply to emails. Provide excellent customer service: genuine care for the job, attention to detail, job knowledge, and problem solving. Maintain a running list of students waiting for tutoring and assign tutors to students. Promote tutoring upon each visit. Assist faculty and students in the use of computers and various learning materials. Assist with maintenance of student records for the Writing Center and all its support functions.

Provide basic troubleshooting and cleaning for computers in Writing Center. Other duties as needed.Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) - Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures. Contribute to a safe educational & working environment. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
