As the final inspector before product hits the floor, you'll wrap, weigh, label, and stock with care and precision, ensuring our customers always find fresh, beautifully presented bakery items.If you are detail-oriented, take pride in presentation, and enjoy being part of a hardworking bakery team, we'd love to have you on board.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive oneWrap, weigh, and label product accurately and apply merchandising labelsStock cases and rotate product with an emphasis on presentationServe as the final inspector of product before it is displayed, ensuring quality and appearance standards are metEnsure signage is correct and that all advertised items are available, informing the Bakery Manager of any out-of-stock productsTake customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptlyAssist the designer by decorating and writing on cakes in the designer's absenceAssist the baker with pulling product from the freezer and dropping cookies, donuts, and similar itemsPractice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized at all timesWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsFollow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detailAdd, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers accuratelyUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writingWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced bakery environmentReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager; Baker; Apprentice BakerEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Hy-Vee Food Safety program requiredSix months or less of similar or related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a bakery environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift.

You will have continual exposure to cool temperatures and dampness, with frequent noise and occasional exposure to cleaning solvents and potential electrical hazards. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
