Worship & Creative Arts Director
Piedmont Church | Full-Time
About Piedmont Church
Piedmont Church exists to lead people to Love God, Love People, and Invest in His Kingdom. We believe the church is more than a place people attend. The church is God's people—His family—gathered together and then sent into the everyday places where He has already placed them.
When we gather, we want to create space for God's people to worship together, hear from His Word, encourage one another, and be equipped for the life and mission God has called them to. But the gathering is not the end goal. We want people to leave ready to live as the church in their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, ballfields, and communities.
In many ways, what happens when we gather should be fueled by what God is already doing through His people throughout the week. The people singing together on Sunday are the same people who have spent the week parenting children, coaching teams, leading businesses, teaching students, serving neighbors, working jobs, sharing meals, and living on mission.
That creates an important tension for everything we do at Piedmont: We want our gatherings to be excellent without making the gathering the center of the Christian life.
Our Worship & Creative Arts ministry should reflect that conviction.
Purpose of This Role
The Worship & Creative Arts Director helps people walk with God and lead others to do the same through the arts.
This person will give leadership to the environments where Piedmont gathers while constantly remembering what those gatherings are for: to glorify God, build up His people, and equip them to live faithfully where God has placed them.
That means Sunday matters. We want to sing great songs. We want our musicians prepared. We want the lights, audio, video, and technology to work. We want creativity and excellence. We want our gatherings to feel intentional, engaging, and unmistakably Piedmont.
But we are not trying to build a weekly Christian production.
The Worship & Creative Arts Director must continually hold the tension between excellence in the gathering and mission in the everyday .
The Creative Arts side of this role carries that same philosophy beyond Sunday morning. Our communication should not simply advertise the next thing happening at the church building. We want to tell stories of what God is doing through ordinary people in ordinary places. We want to create content that equips people, encourages people, starts conversations, engages our community, and helps people see what it looks like to follow Jesus in everyday life.
Whether through a worship gathering, a testimony video, a sermon clip, a podcast, a photograph, a social post, or a story from a Missional Community, our creative work should point beyond itself toward the mission of God.
The Kind of Leader We're Looking For
We are looking for more than a talented worship leader or creative professional. We want a disciple-maker who happens to be creative .
This person should care as much about developing the person holding the guitar as they do about how the guitar sounds. They should care as much about the spiritual health of the person running lights as they do about how the stage looks. They should be interested in what God is doing through our people Monday through Saturday—not simply whether they are prepared when they arrive on Sunday.
They should naturally ask questions like:
- How does this gathering equip our people for the week ahead and celebrate who God is?
- Are we developing disciples or simply filling table setters (volunteer) positions?
- Are the people on our platforms actually living the mission we're singing about?
- Are we telling stories about what God is doing outside our building?
- Does our social media communicate the life of our church or just advertise our events?
- Are we creating content that someone who doesn't attend Piedmont would actually find valuable?
- Are we helping ordinary people see that their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, schools, and teams are places God has sent them to?
- Does what we create help the people at Piedmont Love God, Love People, and Invest in His Kingdom?
The right person will understand that a great Sunday is not simply one where the band sounded great, the transitions were seamless, and the graphics looked good. A great Sunday gathers God's people, celebrates what He is doing among them, and sends them back into the places where He has already called them to live on mission.
