If so, the Disability Evaluation Unit (DEU) at the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) is hiring a Workers' Compensation Consultant! DIR monitors the administration of workers’ compensation claims and provides services to assist resolving disputes with claims for workers’ compensation benefits. As the newest DEU Rater, you will review and analyze medical reports to issue summary, consultative and formal permanent disability ratings, and will calculate commutations involving present value of future permanent disability indemnity.

• You love presenting your findings in concise and impactful summaries.
• You thrive in facilitating productive discussions and finding effective solutions.

This is a full journey level position, and you will be expected to calculate ratings and commutations of high complexity. As the DEU Rater, you will be an expert resource to the workers' compensation community on permanent disability rating. Hybrid and flexible work schedules are available with remote work being available up to two days per week.

Working Conditions

This position is located at: 3737 Main Street, Suite 300, Riverside, CA 92501.

The incumbent will work 40 hours per week in an office setting equipped with standard office equipment. Air conditioned, in a high-rise building with elevator access, cubicle with natural and artificial lighting.
