Workers' Compensation Attorney
We are seeking a motivated Workers' Compensation Attorney to represent injured workers in administrative and civil matters. The attorney will manage a caseload of claimant matters from intake through resolution, pursue claims aggressively, handle hearings and trials when needed, and negotiate favorable settlements. The role requires strong litigation experience, practical knowledge of workers' compensation law, and excellent client advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claimant files from intake through resolution, including administrative hearings and civil actions as needed.
- Conduct client interviews, evaluate claims, and provide clear legal advice on benefits, causation, and liability.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements in administrative and civil forums.
- Prepare for and represent clients at depositions, administrative hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and jury or bench trials.
- Develop case strategy, retain and coordinate with experts (medical, vocational, economic), and review medical records and reports.
- Negotiate settlements with insurers, employers, and defense counsel to achieve timely and fair outcomes for clients.
- Maintain accurate case files, calendaring, and billing records; ensure compliance with deadlines and statute of limitations.
- Collaborate with paralegals and support staff, supervise case preparation, and participate in client and team meetings.
- Stay current on applicable statutes, regulations, and case law affecting workers compensation and related practice areas.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in this state.
- Minimum 3 years of experience handling workers' compensation claims, with progressive responsibility; plaintiff-side experience preferred.
- Demonstrated litigation and trial experience, including administrative hearings and courtroom advocacy.
- Proven experience with workers comp claims management, drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and negotiating settlements.
- Strong knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, medical terminology, and vocational impairment concepts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, client counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with experts, claims professionals, and support staff; strong organizational skills.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to hearings, depositions, and client or medical locations as needed.
