Position Summary:
The Federal Work-Study Student Employee provides general support to assigned campus departments while gaining valuable work experience and developing professional skills. Duties vary by department but typically include clerical, customer service, organizational, and operational tasks. Student employees are expected to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide courteous and professional assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Answer telephones, take messages, and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with filing, scanning, copying, and organizing documents.
- Enter and maintain accurate information in computer systems and databases.
- Prepare materials for meetings, events, or departmental activities.
- Sort and distribute mail or other departmental correspondence.
- Assist with maintaining office organization and supplies.
- Perform basic data entry and record keeping.
- Complete assigned projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and institutional records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
- Follow all departmental and institutional policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission of the department.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
General Days/Hours:
Flexible schedule based on class schedule and departmental needs.
Typically, 10-20 hours per week, not to exceed the student's Federal Work-Study award or institutional limits.
Students may not work during scheduled class times except as permitted by federal regulations.
Other:
Work is generally performed in an office or campus environment. Some positions may require light physical activity, event support, or outdoor work depending on departmental assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program through the Office of Financial Aid.
Must be enrolled in an eligible program of study.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by institutional and federal regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous customer service or office experience preferred but not required.
Familiarity with standard office equipment.
