Job Description

The Wiring Technician will assemble electrical components and structures into finished products according to specifications, diagrams, and work orders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on accurate assembly of switchboards, panelboards, and copper bussing, ensuring all products meet quality and safety standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and effective collaboration with a production team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble various electrical and structural components into finished products according to specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and work orders.

• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing required safety shoes, glasses, ear protection, and other protective equipment, and use tools in a safe manner.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and tidy work area to support efficient and safe production.

• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, front views, bills of materials, drawings, blueprints, and order entry systems to ensure accurate assembly.

• Ensure the quality and integrity of structures by checking that products are level, square, and built to specification.

• Inspect components such as corner posts, roofs, covers, and other structural parts for damage including dents and scratches before use.

• Use torque wrenches and other tools to torque bolts and fasteners to required specifications.

• Assemble copper bussing according to design, verifying correct spacing from phase to phase and to ground.

• Utilize a variety of hand tools and power tools to accurately install materials, closely following established procedures and work instructions.

• Problem-solve using oral and written instructions to assemble switchboards and panelboards, proactively identifying missing or incorrect components.

• Communicate job progress within the assigned area, clearly identifying problem areas, part shortages, and any issues affecting production.

• Perform visual inspections of materials before and after assembly, identify nonconforming parts, and troubleshoot assembly errors to maintain quality standards.

• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in root cause analysis in response to quality or production issues.

• Work both independently and collaboratively with team members and leads to meet production goals and deadlines.

• Manage multiple tasks effectively, establish work priorities, and use time efficiently to complete assignments.

• Use computer systems and CAD software to open and follow structural designs during the assembly process.

• Participate fully in training activities, apply learned skills to daily work, and support continuous improvement in production practices.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience working as an Assembler or Wiring Technician in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong ability to maintain concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout repetitive and complex tasks.

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, blueprints, bills of materials, and other manufacturing documentation.

• Clear understanding of manufacturing information, including front views, drawings, blueprints, order entry systems, and inventory-related data.

• Ability to assemble switchboards and panelboards using oral and written instructions and identify missing components proactively.

• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches safely and accurately in an assembly setting.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environment.

• Effective problem-solving and organizational skills to address assembly issues and maintain workflow.

• Ability to multi-task, establish work priorities, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

• Basic computer proficiency and ability to use CAD software to open and follow structural designs.

• Capability to stand or walk for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role.

• High school diploma or equivalent educational background.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with assembly tools, techniques, and general manufacturing processes.

• Experience working with GMP or standardized manufacturing procedures.

• Exposure to ERP systems and inventory control processes in a production environment.

• Comfort working with electrification products, switchboards, panelboards, and related electrical infrastructure components.

• Ability to conduct visual inspections and identify nonconforming parts or quality issues.

• Experience participating in or supporting root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.

• Openness to extensive training, coaching, and development in both technical and leadership skills.

Available Shifts:

• Monday - Friday, morning shift and night shift available; 7am-5pm OR 5:30pm-3:30am

• 50-hour standard work week, with 5-10 additional hours of overtime available weekly.

• All hours over 40 are paid at time and a half.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
