Position Summary
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the athletic program while helping promote sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, academic responsibility, and positive student-athlete experiences. This position may be filled as a stipend or non-stipend assignment depending on program needs, funding, and district determination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work Environment
Work is performed in gymnasiums, athletic fields, school facilities, and during travel to competitions. Evening and weekend hours are frequently required.
Compensation
Compensation for this position may include a district-approved stipend when applicable. Some assignments may be volunteer or non-stipend positions based on program needs and district approval.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or site administration in accordance with district procedures.

Position Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising practices and competitions.
- Support instruction of sport-specific skills, conditioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Help ensure the safety and welfare of all student-athletes at all times.
- Supervise students during practices, games, travel, locker rooms, and team activities.
- Model and enforce appropriate conduct, discipline, and ethical behavior.
- Assist with maintaining equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Support compliance with district policies, athletic handbook expectations, and applicable governing body regulations.
- Promote academic achievement and appropriate citizenship among student-athletes.
- Maintain effective communication with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development as assigned.
- Assist with game preparation, transportation coordination, event supervision, and operational needs as directed.
- Perform other duties related to the athletic program as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous coaching experience or participation in the assigned sport preferred.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and fundamentals of the sport preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise students in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Valid fingerprint clearance card or district-approved background clearance.
- Completion of all district-required coaching trainings and certifications.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required based on district expectations.
- Compliance with all state athletic association requirements, if applicable.
- Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, and lift athletic equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel with teams as required.
